How to Carve the Unity Logo into a Pumpkin (No Stencil Needed)

Tools and materials

• Pumpkin
• Carving kit saw
• Marker
• Ruler
• LED candle or flashlight

Steps

1. Step 1

   Cut the lid at an angle so it won't fall in, scoop it out, and scrape the wall about one inch thick where you'll carve.

2. Step 2

   Pick a flat spot, not over a deep rib, wipe it dry, and mark a dot in the center.

3. Step 3

   Mark six dots around the center, like numbers on a clock, all about the same distance out, and join them with straight lines using a ruler. That's your hexagon. Guide only, do not cut it.

4. Step 4

   Draw the Y inside: center to top, center to lower right, center to lower left. Also a guide, do not cut it.

5. Step 5

   In each of the three sections, draw a smaller diamond, about half the size of the section, with a gap all around it. Cut only these three diamonds with gentle saw strokes and pop the pieces out from inside.

6. Step 6

   Put a light in. The diamonds glow and the Y stays dark.
